Melbourne Weekend June 5-8

What’s happening in Melbourne this long weekend?

Melbourne International Jazz Festival  Until June 7th, Various Locations

The Jazz Festival is officially here and you can expect venues all over the city to be overtaken with jazz. Highlights for this weekend include the Acrobat Dining Room Tale Saturday night, free jazz shows in Fed Square tonight and the Nicolas Ospina Trio on Sunday.

Etsy Craft Fair Saturday June 6th, National Gallery Victoria

As part of their global craft initiative, NGV has teamed up with Etsy to offer a day of crafts and creations. Book ahead to secure your one hour time slot.

The Operatives Present Tokimonsta, Toddla T and Beat Spacek Saturday June 6th, Revolt Melbourne Art Space, 12 Elizabeth Street, Kensington

Join LA-based Tokimonsta with Ninja Tune’s Toddla T on his debut Australian tour along with others for this night of cool and innovative beats.

Escape of the Werewolf All Weekend, North Melbourne

The wait has almost come to an end as the most immersive horror walk through ride finally begins in Melbourne this weekend. The walkthrough sees participants locked in a laboratory, surrounded by werewolfs. From there, they have 45 minutes to escape. Bookings are essential and note that you may get some fake blood on your clothes.

Hot Dub Time Machine  Friday June 5th, Max Watt’s Melbourne, 125 Swanston Street

Crowd favourite, DJ Tom Loud returns to Melbound tonight as a stop in his Groovin’ in the Moo festival tour. Starting off with music from the 1950’s, the set will slowly progress chronologically until it reaches the most recent hits. There’s a reason why so many of his shows sell out.

Emerge in the South East Sunday June 7th, Corner Cleeland and Clow Streets, Dandenong

This is the second edition this year in a series of markets aimed at promoting immigrant cultures and allowing locals to explore the world without even leaving the state. From 10am, patrons can taste food from Sri Lanka, Turkey and Afghanistan. As the day evolves, you’ll be treated to upbeat and infectious music along with workshops.
